I’d like to introduce you to PMOG’s new and stable leveling system.

Over the months, PMOG has had a number of different leveling schemes. Here’s a quick look back: At first, levels had been based off datapoints only. Then, tool use was also required. Most recently, levels have been divided among the six associations available for you to rank in. Today, we have refined the process and made it more transparent to you as a player to work towards the levels you wish to achieve, while also making it easier to keep track of the points you have earned towards those levels.

Levels are now calculated based on two factors: your total lifetime datapoints, and your classpoints (CP) for each association.  This new system will go live in this month.

You will earn classpoints for each tool you use. For Associations that have more than one tool or upgrade, a set amount of CPs will be earned helping you towards your next level.

On your profile you will see a count your earned classpoints for each Association, which you can use to gauge how many more tools or upgrades you still need to use to level up.

This is very similar to the leveling system previously in place. However, there are subtle differences. First and foremost, you can choose your Primary Association now; this will set your meta-level, the level that shows on your profile, forum posts and so forth.

Secondly, it makes the leveling system more reliable! We will keep separate count of your CPs, so less work is required of our servers and you should no longer receive false notifications of having leveled up.

Lastly, as more new tools and upgrades are introduced, it will allow us to balance the amount of CPs you earn for each tool without having to do tool resets or introduce an entirely new leveling system.

Your levels will likely change when this new system goes live in the next few weeks. Also, as tool use and datapoints earned are now more on par with one another, your levels most likely have scaled down. While this may cause you some distress, playing PMOG and using more tools will bring your levels back up. We carefully studied the tool counts of some more active players to make sure “Level 20″ represented what we felt was was an appropriate amount of effort, time and tool use.

You suggestions are welcome, by either commenting in this thread, or e-mailing feedback at pmog dot com.
